I would use $20 as a spending cap, not promise that it buys a full day of meals, transport and activities. The old version of this guide treated a coffee price and thrift purchase as known costs. Those were not verified. This plan separates posted prices from money that is only a personal allowance.
The two checked prices
Hallie Ford Museum of Art lists general admission at $8. It is open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., and is free for everyone on Tuesdays.
The Riverfront Carousel lists individual rides at $2. Entry to the building is free. There is a $5 minimum for card transactions, so I would bring cash if buying only one ride.
What the arithmetic actually covers
For one person paying general admission, $8 for the museum plus $2 for one ride equals $10. That leaves $10 within a $20 cap. On a Tuesday with free museum admission, the same ride costs $2 and leaves $18.
Those remaining amounts are not quoted prices for lunch, coffee, parking or shopping. Every extra purchase has to fit inside them. If transport or parking uses the remaining budget, I would skip the purchases, bring food from home, or choose the free-entry option instead of a ride. Food brought from home still has a cost; it is simply outside this outing's cash budget.
Keep the route simple
I would arrange the museum visit within its afternoon hours and the carousel within its posted opening hours. Check the route between 700 State Street and 101 Front St NE before leaving. I have not timed that walk or verified every crossing for accessibility.
A stop at Riverfront Park can be optional, subject to current city notices. Shopping is optional too. A thrift store visit does not guarantee finding something at a particular price.
When this plan does not fit
The museum is closed Sunday and Monday. Special closures, changed prices or a group with different admission needs require a fresh calculation. This is an outing budget for one person, not a family total.
