A seasonal event needs more checking than a regular park visit. An old festival page can still appear in search results, and a date from last year can look current at a glance. I would start with the organizer, then use our events calendar to compare options.
Check the year and the individual date
For fairs, markets and holiday shows, read the year on the organizer's page. A listing that spans several months does not mean it runs every day. Find the individual session or performance you plan to attend.
The Elsinore calendar is one place to check dated performances in Salem. Open the event rather than relying only on a title in a guide. The event page should be the final check for ticket links and start times.
Separate admission from the extras
A free event may still involve transport, parking, food or paid activities. A general admission ticket may not include a concert, ride or workshop. I would make a small list of the things the group actually wants to do and check each cost before buying.
For an outdoor event, check the weather policy and whether the ticket is tied to a particular date or time. Do not assume a canceled trip means a refundable ticket.
Do not confuse an attraction with a year-round event
The carousel publishes regular operating hours as well as special events. Those schedules can differ. A special event might have its own admission rules.
Enchanted Forest is seasonal. Its website said on October 24, 2026 that it was closed for the season and would reopen March 20, 2027. That is why I would not reuse a summer family itinerary for an October weekend without checking it.
Make a backup that does not need another ticket
I would keep a shorter outing in mind if the weather changes or a session sells out. It could be a different open venue, but I would check that venue too. A backup is only useful if it is actually available.
