For a weeknight, I would start with the time I can actually leave home. A long list of places is less useful than one activity that is open when I arrive. I would keep the plan short enough that it does not need a rushed dinner or a late drive.
If you want a show
Check the Elsinore Theatre's calendar for the exact date. It lists performances across several types of entertainment, but that does not mean something runs every night. Open the event page, check the start time and find the official ticket link before making plans with friends.
I would allow time for transport, parking and getting to the seat. If dinner comes first, pick somewhere only after confirming the performance time. Ticket prices and fees depend on the event, so this guide does not invent a standard cost.
If you only want a short outing
A daylight walk at Riverfront Park is one option, subject to current access rules and conditions. In fall and winter, I would check sunset before choosing an after-work outdoor plan. Do not assume a summer evening route works the same way in October.
For a shop visit, check the shop's own hours that day. I would not describe all downtown bookstores, comic shops or galleries as evening destinations without confirming their closing times.
Know which daytime ideas do not fit
Hallie Ford Museum of Art normally closes at 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The carousel also lists a 5 p.m. regular closing time. Neither should be a default after-work suggestion unless your timing fits or the operator has confirmed a special evening event.
For bowling, games or an escape room, check booking availability, group size, age rules and the final price with the operator. I would not promise that weeknights are quieter or easier to book without checking.
A quick check before leaving
Confirm the place, date, arrival time and return trip. If one of those is still uncertain, choose a simpler plan. Our events list can help find options, but the organizer remains the final source for changes.
